WELLMAN- Ora Lynn Marner, was born June 16, 1912 in rural Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Eli G. And Elizabeth (Kinsinger) Marner. He has lived in the Parnell and Wellman area throughout his lifetime. On December 1, 1935, he was united in marriage to Eunice Lenore Reber, at the home of John Y. Swartzendruber in Johnson County, Iowa. They settled on a farm and made that their occupation. They lived and worked together there for 49 years, before moving to Wellman in 1984. Ora was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, the Farm Bureau and an active volunteer for many years for the Mennonite Disaster Service and also donated his time to help with building projects at IMS, Lower Deer Creek Church and Pleasantview Home. Ora died on Friday, January 8, 2010, at Parkview Manor, in Wellman, Iowa at the age of 97 years. He is survived by his children: James Marner and wife Charleen of St. Louis, MO, and Loris Miller and husband Merle of Granger, IA; 8 grandchildren: Michelle Pashos, Kevin (Carol) Marner, Marta (Kevin) Guckes, Vonda (Chris) Briles, Lisa (John) Allen, Kimberly Roby, Krista (Brian) Kielty and Scott Reagan(Ann) Miller; 20 great grandchildren: Michael (Joanna), Nicholas, Zachary and Alexis Pashos, Megan (Matt) Viox, Kendra (Chad ) Stearman, Brycen (Kacey) Marner, Aaron, Jessica and Carmen Briles, Emma and Amie Kielty, Allison and Benjamin Roby, Wilson, Samuel and Elliot Miller, Danielle, Audrey and Rachel Guckes; 6 great great grandchildren: Brooke and Luke Viox, Chase Stearman, Michael Pashos II, Christopher and Drew Courtright. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eunice, a brother John Marner and two sisters: Vertie Marner and Susan Roth. Celebration of Life Service will be held10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, near Wellman. Rev Don Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, near Wellman. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00. A memorial fund has been established for Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church or Hospice of Compassus.
