Washington Mayor Sandra Johnson says parking near the city square is a hot topic for Main Street businesses, and she wants to hold a full review of the issue. However, some action has already been taken, as Washington resident Sherri Dusenbery told the city council on Wednesday that she had been instructed not to park in the lot across the street from the city’s post office, a location she says she and other Washington residents have used to carpool to the University of Iowa for almost 13 years. Dusenbery says she had hoped to remedy the situation without having to appear at a City Council Meeting, but had not been contacted regarding the matter after leaving Mayor Johnson phone messages and an email. City Council members said they would work with Dusenbery on the issue.
