The stray cat population in Kalona will soon be under control. PAWS & More Animal Shelter entered an agreement with the city of Kalona with recent council approval. The shelter will help control the town’s stray cat population in return for a financial contribution of $700 from the city. This effort began Wednesday and will include spaying and neutering up to 18 cats, as well as educating local citizens about handling stray animals. The city believes this will help keep the cat population healthy and manageable. This is a response to a recent increase in stray cat sightings.
