Monday will be the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Governor Chet Culver has signed a proclamation marking Monday, December, 7 as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in Iowa. Culver is asking Iowans to lower the U.S. and state flags to half-staff in its honor. A law signed by President Clinton in 1994 requires the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Dec. 7 each year, which he declared as national “Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.”
