Southeast Iowa is right around the state average when it comes to planting progress. According to this week’s crop and weather report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service, corn planting in this portion of the state is three quarters of the way done, with one fourth of soybean acres planted as of this week. Acres set aside for corn in Iowa are 70% planted. Soybean planting in the state sits at 20% complete. Southeast Iowa has progressed nicely in the last week, now on par with the 5 year average and well ahead of last year, when only 15% of corn was planted at this point.
