Mid-Prairie School Board unanimously approved the purchase of two new buses which run on propane. The 71-seat buses will be purchased from School Bus Sales on a bid of $95,477 per bus and a gross cost of $190,954. The school was able to trade in two older buses for $8,000, bringing the net cost down to $182,954. Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider says, there are many tax credits available for propane buses. The biggest savings comes from maintenance costs. Diesel buses are more prone to requiring expensive repairs according to Schneider. The school will now own four buses which run on propane.
