The Iowa Senate has passed a bill that would overhaul Iowa’s mental health system. Senate File 2315 contains five divisions, each one aimed at retooling an aspect of the mental health system. The main change would create a regional structure rather than the county based structure that we have now.

Commercial Property Tax Reform Faces Tough Senate Odds

As previously reported, lawmakers are looking at reducing the percent of taxes collected from commercial properties from 100 to 40%. On Wednesday night, a the House Ways and Means Committee approved the bill.

Lawmakers Looking at Mental Health System

Lawmakers are looking at changing the mental health system in Iowa. The overall goal of the change will be to standardize treatment across all of Iowa, rather than treatment which varies from county to county as it does now.

Branstad Releases Commercial Property Tax Plan

Governor Branstad released his Commercial Tax reform proposal on Wednesday. It plans to drive the percent of commercial property taxes that must be paid from 100% to 60%.

Branstad’s Education Reform Package
