The playoff journey has arrived for Class 1A, 2A, and 3A softball teams across the state with a few area teams participating in the first round today.

In a Class 1A first round matchup Keota will travel to New Sharon to face off with North Mahaska. The Eagles closed the regular season with back-to-back victories to sit at 2-14 on the season and the Warhawks are 16-10. These two squads met up on June 16th with North Mahaska winning by a 10-0 final. Lone Tree will travel to face Holy Trinity for the second time in a week. The Lions come in with a 9-15 overall mark and the Crusaders are 6-15. Lone Tree took care of the first meeting on June 30th with a 6-2 win. 

For the Class 3A bracket, Columbus Community will travel to play West Burlington. The Wildcats had a breakout campaign where they sit at 10-15 and they will have to bring their best against the #4 Falcons with a 29-4 record. This is the first meeting between these programs since May of 2018. 

Each playoff matchup is set to begin at 7 p.m. tonight.
