The number of registered Republicans for last Tuesday’s primary show a small decrease than the number registered in April.  According to Auditor Dan Widmer, out of the more than 13,000 voters, more than 5400 of them have chosen to be a Republican compared to the nearly 3000 listed as Democrat.  He notes these totals do not include those that changed party affiliation at the polls last week.

When comparing totals across Iowa, there are over 608,000 Republicans and just under 600,000 Democrats.  Widmer says there are nearly 4900 residents who have not chosen any political party in the county as well.
