The Washington Community School District has received a grant to add trees to sports complexes. The $3,000 grant is coming from the Department of Natural Resources as part of their “Trees for Kids” program.  Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says the grant is being used to plant 30 shade trees on the new soccer and softball complex located south of the new high school.

The Washington Betterment Foundation assisted with a $700 match in the grant.  Dr. Jorgensen says the district is working with Egli Landscaping and the planting will be held at 8:30 tomorrow with DNR Consultant Laura Wagner present at the planting.
