Agreements to place septic systems in the five remaining non-compliant homes in Richmond and Rubio have been obtained and approved. The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the contracts where the county will pay for the systems and installation and then property owners will have the cost placed on their taxes in 10 installments.

Supervisor Jack Seward says there is a way to donate to the projects. Donations can be made through Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, explained Margie Roth with the organization. She emphasized donors clearly state how they want their donation used, either to the Richmond and Rubio systems as a whole or to a specific resident. Seward will be meeting with representatives from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources next week and will present the progress of the projects.
