Extra measures are being taken in the Washington School District to provide more space for social distancing. Superintendent Willie Stone explained at Wednesday’s school board meeting that they have a storage solution, “We’ve ordered shipping containers for temporary building storage. I talked to you about that. We’re having to clean out a lot of our rooms of stuff so that we can open up more space in our rooms for teachers and for students. Those shipping containers have started arriving already. We have the one at Stewart already.”

Stone shared that each school building will have a shipping container and when they are no longer needed, they’ll be sold.

The first day of classes will be August 24th. Students and staff will be required to wear masks on-site. Families also have the option to select online learning. Students involved in online classes are still eligible to participate in extracurricular activities.
