Eight people addressed the Washington City Council at last night’s meeting regarding the street and sidewalk construction project on South 12th Avenue. Many spoke against having a 5-foot wide sidewalk due to maintenance in the winter. Engineer Leland Belding explained that with the Americans with Disability Act it is recommended to have a 5-foot wide sidewalk. Mayor Sandra Johnson states that a neighborhood meeting for those impacted by the construction project will be held Wednesday, April 9th, at 6 p.m. at the Washington High School.
