As we get ready to prepare for this winter storm, Washington County Hospital and Clinics wants to remind everyone of outdoor safety. Public Health Program Director Chrystal Woller at Washington County Public Health says when working outside to dress in layers. She says an important step is to take it easy and to not over-exert yourself because the cold is already making your heart work harder to keep your body warm. Woller also recommends taking frequent breaks when shoveling snow and to stay hydrated by drinking water and avoid drinking caffeinated and alcoholic drinks. She says it is also important to shovel snow by using your knees as to not hurt your back. For more information on snow shoveling safety, follow the link here.
