Families, friends, and residents alike have welcomed back Iowa soldiers who are returning from duty in Afghanistan.  A homecoming ceremony for the Iowa Army National Guard 832nd Engineer Company took place yesterday at Mt. Pleasant High School.  Iowa National Guard Public Affairs Officer Gregory Hapgood says the unit is headquartered in Mt. Pleasant.

Part of that company was received in Keokuk as well.  Hapgood says soldiers’ family and friends welcomed about 50 troops back to Iowa.

The National Guard is in the process of returning over 3,000 Iowa soldiers home after their tour of duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
