Last month, the Washington County Sheriff’s office joined other law enforcement agencies across Iowa in the special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP). The sTEP program was conducted between Tuesday, November 23rd and Monday, November 29th. According to information from Sheriff Jerry Dunbar’s office, 22 drivers were cited for speeding. 20 of those drivers were seen during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and one was cited with not wearing a seat belt out of the different violations. Iowa holds the sTEP program at various times throughout the year.
