The West Buchanan Street Project, which added eight industrial-zone lots for future purchase, has been finished except for seeding and filling in around the intakes. At the October 18th Washington City Council meeting, the council unanimously approved the establishment of a speed limit for the area and adding a stop sign.

A residential 25 MPH speed limit from West Buchanan from South Ave. E to South Ave. H and South 11th Ave. from East Tyler St and East Fillmore St was approved by the board, keeping in line with the standard that previous zoning areas have set. A stop sign for the South K Ave. intersection with West Buchannon has also been approved.

Mayor Jaron Rosien talked with KCII and said that these changes are standard procedure, “There’s a new street, so it needs to have a speed limit and a stop sign; it’s very basic stuff. It’s not a frequent procedure, but it is standard procedure in order to add a speed zone and a stop sign to the city code.”

The next meeting of the Washington City Council will be Tuesday, November 1st, at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers at Washington City Hall.
