Thunderstorms are expected across the area off and on through the Memorial Day weekend. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s with chances of rain and thunderstorms through Monday. Up to three inches of rain is expected in total in Washington. According to the National Weather Service, Washington has already had nearly seven inches of precipitation this month, more than twice the normal amount. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has all of southeastern Iowa in an elevated risk of storms Saturday, with a surface front expected to stall from southern Wisconsin southwest into Nebraska and Kansas, creating conditions for potential storms to have large hail, damaging wind, and a few tornadoes possible.
