State Representative Dave Jacoby is informing Iowans of a Town Hall being held to increase awareness of the proper treatment of animals at puppy mills in Iowa. Hosted by PAWS & More Animal Shelter, the USDA, and Iowa DNR, the town hall is for dog breeders to ask questions and learn about best practices for dog breeding and dealing with what necessities there are for running an operation that treats animals. KCII News spoke with PAWS & More Animal Shelter Director Amber Talbot to learn more, “There is no pre-registration, just come in and the Iowa Department of Ag, and the USDA will be presenting and we’ll have handouts and paper forms with answers and facts for folks.”  The town hall will be held at the Wellman Banquet Hall located at 525 13th Street on December 13th from 9:00 am -12:00 pm. Iowa currently has the highest number of puppy mills in the nation and is expanding its lead over other states. During the second quarter of 2022, 23 Iowa breeders and brokers were cited for violations by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
