A local farmer recently opened his farm up to city dwellers, as part of a program put on by the Iowa FFP. “U on the Farm” is an activity launched this spring by Iowa Food & Family Project, which is an initiative created by the Iowa Soybean Association. Iowa FFP is dedicated to inspiring greater awareness, understanding and trust between farmers and consumers.
Lindsay Greiner, who is a crop and livestock farmer out of Keota, decided to volunteer to host “U on the Farm” because he believes it’s important that farmers tell their story to non-farmers, so people will realize how they do things and that they’re trustworthy citizens raising food and families in a responsible manner.
The Greiners hosted a family from Des Moines that took part in activities like riding in a tractor, planting crops and touring a hog barn.
