Updates are happening at each of the Washington schools. At their meeting Wednesday, the Washington Community School Board heard from Superintendent Willie Stone on projects at Stewart and Lincoln Elementary Schools, the middle school, and high school. One project will help in energy consumption by the district, “Right now we’re averaging just a penny under a dollar per square foot, as far as what we spend per year on energy. The goal is to be under a dollar, so we’re where we need to be. And they did a comparison to the next two school districts up and next two school districts down, and we’re right between those. Now, I think some of our stuff will change when we get the new windows in Lincoln because we’re going to high efficiency windows.” Windows are also being replaced at Stewart. Concrete work has been completed at the middle school. And the gym floors in the high school and middle school are being repainted.
