The Washington County Board of Adjustment has granted a variance for a couple that purchased land south of Washington before zoning went into effect. Zoning Administrator Steve Lafaurie told the board of adjustment 20 letters had been mailed to anyone living within half a mile of the property, and he had received no public comments on the issue.  Dave and Jessica Waite can now build a home 120 feet away from adjacent agricultural operations, 80 feet closer than allowed by Washington County’s newly enacted zoning ordinance.  Jessica Waite hopes to begin construction on the new home, located northwest of the intersection of 265th Street and Wayland road, approximately a half mile south of Washington, within the next two weeks.
