The WACO girl’s basketball team is looking to improve on 2012 with a young team.

The Lady Warriors lost five seniors to graduation, and finished 5-13 in the conference, putting them in eighth place.

WACO will get underway with Louisa Muscatine on Nov.16, just a day before the Iowa Hall of pride scrimmage against Washington on Saturday the 17th.

WACO will face conference champions Mediapolis on Dec. 12, and then again on Jan. 22, before the girls SEISC girls shootout begins on Feb. 1 and regionals begin on Feb. 7.

Head coach Shannon Rugg says there is no one part of the schedule that is harder than the others, with a young team it will all be a challenge.

“With us, with just being so inexperienced, with our young kids I think that every night out is going to be a game for us, and we’re going to have to be ready,” Rugg said. “With Mediapolis in our division they’re loaded this year, they were loaded this year, won the conference, I think they have been undefeated in conference for the last two years, so when we play them we’re really going to have to be ready both mentally and physically.”

WACO will play at the IWC jamboree on Nov. 15.
