The WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ track teams participated in the WACO Relays on Tuesday with the Warriors taking the team title.

It was home cooking for WACO as they won meet with a team total of 117 points, 32 points higher than the second place team Mediapolis.  The Warriors had contributions from all around grabbing eight event championships paced by Mayme Hinh, winning the discus title with a throw of 83’6’’ and the shot put with a heave of 31’4 ¼’’. Grace Conwell got things started in the sprints taking home the 200m title with a time of 29.07 seconds and then Kiana Miller had a winning 400m time of 1:08.88. Mariah Boone won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:26 and Laney Graber ran the fastest 800m time of 2:39.90. Rounding out the top finishes for WACO were Makenzie Shelman winning the 3000m with a time of 16:57.36 and the shuttle hurdle relay team won in 1:13.74.

Winfield-Mt Union was fourth out of the five teams participating with a total of 51 points. Pearl Krieger-Coble led the Wolves by placing first in the 1500m run with a time of 5:43.77. The 4×400 team of Johndree Harris, Thea Urias, Dakota Haines, and Allie McArtor got the team valuable points by winning the event with a time of 4:50.69. Other notable finishes for the Wolves was Kara Wade grabbing a pair of second place finishes in the shot put and discus.
