The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Washington’s Municipal Airport more than $500,000 in grants for runway rehabilitation. U.S. Senator Charles Grassley told KCII the grants “maintain safety and efficiency” but also give rural communities a way to keep and attract new business.  Grassley says businesses often don’t want to use Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Burlington when flying to multiple locations, making regional options a tool for local economies.  In July, Washington’s Municipal Airport received a separate grant of more than $9,000 from the state’s aviation program to improve the approach to its hanger and other paved areas.
