Four ambulances and the equipment in them are now part of the newly created Washington County Ambulance Department. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors approved measures to purchase the equipment from Washington County Ambulance Inc. Only Supervisors Jack Seward, Stan Stoops, and Abe Miller were in attendance and approved the measures unanimously. The county already owned two of the rigs, but the others with equipment were purchased for $198,600.

The county department will begin operating July 1st with two staff crews fulltime with provisions for a third back-up crew on call as needed. Seward tells KCII News that there will be three ambulances stocked and ready for calls at all times, with the oldest one as a back-up if another rig is down for servicing.
