Though the Washington Public Library’s event calendar for March is somewhat smaller due to their focus on expanding access to patrons, they are excited about a month-long program engaging the community.

Library Director Bryna Walker describes the project called “Stories from the Recipe Box,” “What you do is send us a copy of your favorite recipe and it would be nice if it was scanned from original handwriting or typed by you. Then include a story that goes along with the recipe, and you can write a paragraph or a page. So for instance if you have grandma’s homemade cookie recipe, just write a little story about it. It’s kind of like meaningful if it’s passed on, that type of thing.”

Walker says these recipes and stories will be shared in the upcoming months on the library’s Facebook page, events email, and local media, and will be made into a printed booklet which participants will each receive.
