A local service organization has presented a $10,000 donation to the YMCA of Washington County. The Washington Rotary Club recently presented the gift to help with furnishing the community room in the new YMCA building. The room is where the Rotary Club and other area organizations meet.

The funds were raised with $5,000 from the club’s projects like the annual turkey fry and the other half came through a matching grant from Rotary District 6000 and the Rotary Foundation. Members Terry Engelken and the late David Collins were instrumental in pursuing the grant.

The new YMCA in Washington on 5th Street had its grand opening in June.
