With more snow in the forecast for today, Washington City Hall wants to remind residents of their snow removal ordinance.  Washington Building and Zoning Administrator Steve Donnelly says after snow or ice has stopped falling, the owner of the property has no more than 24 hours to remove it.  He says if it is not possible for the snow to be removed because it is frozen, the property owner is to put down salt or sand to prevent the sidewalk from being slippery.  Donnelly says if this policy is not followed, the city will give the owner a two day time frame to remove the snow or ice.  He says after the two days, the city will remove the snow or ice and monetary damages will be charged and must be paid within 30 days.  To see the full snow removal ordinance, Look at Chapter 53 in this link http://washingtoniowa.net/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={8EFBAF60-8C9A-4690-A91D-001EC01E5299}
