press play to hear from Washington Mayor Sandra Johnson

The Washington School District is purchasing close to 20 acres of land just south of the junior high. The board approved the buy at Wednesday’s meeting. The district is purchasing the land for about $500,000, or roughly $25,000 per acre. The district hopes to recoup some of that money by selling off a 90 acre plot of land on the north side of town, possibly to the city. Mayor Sandra Johnson says that’s one of the few locations they could possibly build a wellness park. She says the scope of such a project depends on what the city’s capital improvement plan looks like after the new waste water plant.
