The Washington Economic Development Group (WEDG) is looking for their next executive director.

The previous executive director Ed Raber resigned last March after 21 years on the job, and WEDG Board Director Brent Hinson explains what the board has been up to since then, “So the first thing that we did as a board is say the position’s been occupied for a long time. We need to just examine anytime that a position like that becomes open, examine is there some different way to approach this, some change of duties, what are the board’s priorities and then we also wanted to do some goal setting so that when we did get a new director in we had a good plan for moving forward.”

Hinson says the job description is virtually the same as before, and the board is looking for the right candidate to help Washington County further develop, “We have had a lot of good things happen in Washington. You know we’re not an industrial hub, we probably won’t be an industrial hub even if we get the greatest economic development director of all time. But we think that there’s lots of great business opportunities here, we have lots of great companies. Certainly our focus is chiefly on existing business expansion and I think that that’s going to stay that way but certainly yeah we’re looking for somebody to help us be the best us we can and help us succeed.”

Applications will be accepted through September 21, to find the job posting click here.
