Every year people make a new years resolution to lose weight, but fail to do so. Mike Steckly with Fitness 24/7 in Kalona says what he tells people is to watch what you eat and use portion control. He says a lot of people cut something out of their diet but then binge on it later. The key is to eat the right portion. He says people can still eat desserts, just cut down on the amount so you don’t end up binging.
Steckly says people should be making small goals that are reachable before you make big goals. When starting a workout program, he suggests 20 minutes of exercise 3 days a week. If you do join a gym, Steckly suggests joining one with a friend because that will help keep you motivated. Steckly says the best thing to do is just start a routine where you exercise and watch what you eat.
