It will be a celebration of the end of World War II at the Columbus Junction Public Library on Saturday. The library will be decorated like one of the canteens which were in operation during World War II. The canteens were set up at various depots to serve soldiers involved in the fighting. There will also be uniforms and memorabilia from the area.

There will also be a presentation on the Friendship Train, which took supplies around France that were donated by Americans. The Merci Train later distributed thank you gifts from France to each state in the United States. The Iowa train is still in existence, located in Cedar Falls. During the celebration, local World War II vets will be honored. Everything begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Columbus Junction Library.
