Description: Veterans and their families are invited to attend Congressman Dave Loebsack\’s Veterans Town Hall meeting at 11:45 at Sip in Mount Pleasant and at 2pm at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center Conference Room Monday, June 22nd. Veterans can speak directly with Loebsack and assistance will be available for those having issues with the Veterans Administration or any Federal agency.

Carnival

Description: The Washington Library will screen the movie Penquins from 1 to 2:30pm Monday, June 22nd in the Nicola Stoufer Room. The event is free for kindergartners through 12th graders. Younger children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Description: A benefit for Sanders Moffit is being held Saturday, June 20th at the Lone Tree American Legion. Dinner will be from 4 to 6pm. Chidren\’s activities begin at 5:30pm. Description: The Washington County Fair Association will be holding a large animal contest and a tall cornstalk contest at this year\’s fair. Categories for the animal contest include horse, bull, boar, sheep goat and rabbit. Animals will be weighed in at noon Monday, July 20th at the fairgrounds. Tall corn contest also begins at noon. Drop them off at the depot between 8am and noon. Call 653-2552 for more information.

Golf Tournament

Description: The Curt Jensen Memorial Golf Tournament is being held Saturday, July 11th at the Washington Golf & Country Club The 4 person best shot will go toward a scholarship for a Washington High School senior. Fee is $35 for non-members and $25 for members. Carts are $25. Lunch is included in the entry fee. Absentee ballots can be requested by calling 515-225-9242 or by visiting iowa corn .org. The ballots are available by request until Monday, June 29th and must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 21st.
