Description: The Ainsworth Community Center Opera House will hold their first breakfast buffet fundraiser in 2011 Saturday, February 5th. They will be open from 7 am to 9 am. Cost is $7 a person, children $10 and under are free with an adult. The menu includes breakfast casseroles, ham, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit, rolls, and more.

Civil War History

Description: A free lecture at the Washington Public Library Saturday (1/22) at 2:00 PM will focus on the heroism of a Washington County infantry unit at the crucial 1862 Civil War Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee.
Local Civil War buff Jim Stephens will discuss the little-known actions of Company C, 8th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite Civil War memorabilia for display and discussion at the event.

Description: The senior class of Iowa Mennonite School will prepare, host and serve a Chili Supper, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 in the IMS gym. Tickets are available from any member of the senior class; by calling the school office 656-2073 or 683-2586; or by showing up during serving hours on the 22nd. Proceeds benefit the class and helps cover the costs of their class trip and other expenses.
For those to whom chili does not sound appealing, there will be an alternative offered as well.
