Those invited and scheduled to attend are Marianette Miller-Meeks for U.S. House of Representatives, Sandy Greiner for Iowa Senate and Jared Klein for Iowa House of Representatives. The meeting will include a Meet and Greed, questions and answers.

Description: Scouts will be collecting food on Saturday October 16th for those in need. Please place canned and boxed goods in a bag; nothing perishable, frozen or glass. Place bag outside your front door in visible sight from the street for pickup by 8am. If your bag is not picked up by 10am please bring the food to the Army Reserve Center at 1411 North Marion Ave. in Washington by 12pm all food goes to local banks.

Title: Haloween Hike
Description: Looking for some not-so-scary fun for Halloween this year? Want to get out and enjoy nature at night? Then come to the Washington County Conservation Board’s annual Halloween Hike. This event will run from 6:45 – 8:30 p.m. at Marr Park on Saturday, October 23. The theme for this year’s hike is “The Three Sisters,” so named for a Native American gardening technique. The Trail can be entered anytime between 6:45 and 8:00 p.m. Activities in the Center will run through 8:30. Volunteers are also needed. Contact Naturalist Pam Holz on how you can help. Title: Way Off Broadway Haunted House
Description: The Way Off Broadway Haunted House located at the Old Armory, at the corner of B and Broadway in Fairfield will be open weekends: October 14,-16, 21-23, 28-31 from 6:30-9:30pm with special matinees for young people Saturdays October 16, 23, 30 and Sunday October 31 from 1:00-4:00 pm. The donation for the evenings is $6 and for the matinees is $3 and tickets are available at the Old Armory door on Broadway next to the Ledger during open hours. The evening Haunting should be scary enough to thrill middle school through adults and the matinees are appropriate for children 5-10 (parents may accompany their children.) Title: Kalona Elementary Playground Fundraiser
Description: The Kalona Elementary Playground Committee will be holding a meal to raise funds for the final phase of the playground improvement project at the Kalona Elementary gymnasium Tuesday, November 16th from 5:00-7:00pm. Zio Johno’s, is catering. Tickets for the meal, which can be purchased at the door, will be $6.50 for 12 and up, $5.00 for children 4-11 and kids 3 and under are free. Seconds are free if you use your original plate. Carry outs are welcomed. The meal will be held in conjunction with the KE Book Fair. The KE Library will be open so families can browse and/or purchase books. Each family that purchases a meal will receive a coupon for $1 off a book at the book fair.
