Description: Bryan Kendall of the Office of the State Archaeologist at the University of Iowa will be the speaker at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Louisa County Heritage Center in Wapello. The free program , “What’s Old is New Again: Recent Discoveries ”, will look at Archaeology in Iowa that stretches back more than 100 years with early explorations along the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa. If anyone has questions about a specific site he will do his best to answer them. Refreshments will be served.

Description: The Mid-Prairie Music Boosters will be hosting a pancake supper before the last home football game of the regular season on Friday, October 15th. This year’s pancake feed will take place in the high school cafeteria starting at 4:30 PM. Tickets are $6 in advance for adults or $6.50 at the door. Kids under 10 are $3.50. Tickets can be purchased from any Mid-Prairie high school music student or Wellman Rotarian. All proceeds will benefit music camp scholarships for local Mid-Prairie student musicians.

Description: The PAWS & More Animal Shelter hopes you’ll join them for their 2010 Dog Walk at the Sunset Park in the dog park area. The Walk will be on Sunday October 10th, from 1-3pm with registration at 12:30. Cost is a $10 entry fee for the first dog, and $5 for the second dog. Put your paws to the pavement and join the approximately 1 mile walk in the park area. Micro chipping will be available at a reduced rate. And all money raised goes to raise funds for the shelter.
