Description: The Washington Community Chest postponed their raffle last week due to rain and cancellation of events at the Washington County Fair. The drawings for the winner of $1200 in groceries will held Thursday at 4:45pm at the Farmers Market on the Washington Square. The drawing will be held at the band stand and the winner does not need to be present to win.

Brinton Film Festival

Description: The Brinton Film Festival will be showing at the Ainsworth Opera House on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31st at 7:30 p.m. Some of the films that will be showing during the program date back to the 19th century and many of the films are exclusive to the Opera House. Description: The annual celebration of Herbert Hoover’s birthday, “Hooverfest,” takes place on Saturday, August 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Historic Site in West Branch. There will be live entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, over one-hundred exhibits and food vendors, and a fireworks display that night. Description: The United Methodist Church of Washington is holding a sale of many different items (today/tomorrow) on Saturday, August 6th from 2 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 7th from 8 a.m. until noon in the church basement in Washington. There will be a bake sale, and they will be selling kids clothes, furniture, tools, toys, games, books, and more. All proceeds go the Washington Area Life Fund.

Registration before Tuesday, August 31st costs $10 and guarantees a t-shirt. Registration after August 31st is $15.
