Summer Camps

Title: Summer Camps
Description: Openings Still Available for Conservation Day Camps

The Washington County Conservation Board has several openings yet for its summer day camp program. The nature camps are designed around the natural world at Marr Park. Activities include hikes, games, crafts, fishing, exploration, and a daily snack.
All camps are limited to 12 students, cost is $25 per student, and run Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. till noon, except for Tadpole Camp.
The following camps are available for 2014:

Dragonfly Camp: NEW session! We are focusing on the different animal groups. For students entering 1st – 2nd grade. Dates: August 4 – 8.

Kestrel Camp: This summer, we will work ourselves up the food chain to become Top Predator. For students entering 3rd – 4th grade. Dates: July 21 – 25

Mink Camp: This camp will focus on how to use nature skills to survive a zombie attack. Includes regular camp activities, plus canoeing, survival, and more. For students entering 5th – 7th grade. Dates: July 28 – August 1

Tadpole Camp: This camp is for 4-5 years olds who have yet to start kindergarten. Camp runs 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., is limited to 8 students, and costs $15. Dates: July 1 – 3

Pre-registration is required for these camps. Registration must be received by the Thursday prior to the camp start date. Payment is required for registration.
For those in need of financial assistance, scholarships are available courtesy of the Washington Noon Kiwanis.

Extension

Description: All 2014 Iowa State Fair 4-H livestock and horticulture entries must be completed online through member’s 4hOnline accounts. Any 4-H member wishing to exhibit livestock at the State Fair must complete the entry process online by July 1. Help sheets are available for those entries at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/Enrollment/help.htm. These must be entered by July 1. Payments must be sent to the Washington County Extension Office by July 1 with checks addressed to the Iowa State Fair.

4-H, FFA, Open Class Livestock, Iowa Family Living, and Horse and Pony premium books and entry forms are available online only. Premium books and entry forms will no longer be mailed to past exhibitors.
