Purple Martin Fest

Title: Purple Martin Fest
Description: The first Iowa Purple Martin Fest begins at 9:30am Saturday, June 27th at the home of Evan and Ethel Gingerich (2282 Johnson-Washington Road SW) north of Kalona. Attendees will get a close up look at eggs and nestlings as a martin house will be lowered every hour between 10am to 2pm. There will be a presentation on maintaining a purple martin colony at 1pm. A freewill lunch begins at noon. Bring a lawn chair. Call 931-3321 for more information.

Woolly Mammoth

Description: Those 14 and older are invited to help unearth three Woolly Mammoths in Mahaska County from 8am to 5pm Friday, July 10th. Transportation will be provided from the Louisa County Conservation Office. Participants should dress appropriately, wear boots, and bring water, a sack lunch and change of clothes for the trip home. Description: The Crawfordsville Community Club will holding Crawfordsville Fun Day on Saturday, July 25th at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. A free will donation supper will be held from 4:30 to 7pm with a bounce house for the kids during that time. The band Strait Run will perform from 7 to 10pm. This event is sponsored by the Crawfordsville Community Club and the Crawfordsville Lions Club.
