The Church of God in Washington is having a Christ’s Birthday Banquet on Christmas Day from noon until 2pm. There will be turkey, ham and all the trimmings. There is no charge. The Christmas Program will be Dec.13th at 10:30 a.m. Rehearsals are already taking place at Sunday School.
The Christmas Musical will be presented by the JAM KIDS during the Sunday morning 10:30 worship service on Dec.13th. Come and watch as the children look for the “Signs of Christmas” found all around us. The children will sing, dance, and play instruments with songs.

The Ainsworth Opera House will host one of the world’s largest displays of nativity sets again this December. Great artist’s ability and craftsmanship is shown in the many handmade sets. Dates are Friday and Saturday December 4th and 5th, 11thth, and 112th, from 10 a.m. to 8p.m. and Sunday December 6th and 13th from 1pm to 5p.m. Minimum $5 donation is the cost of this annual fundraiser for the Opera House located at 284 Railroad St. in Ainsworth. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Knights of Columbus are having a holiday meal Sunday, December 6th at 5 pm at the KC Hall. Dinner includes roasted turkey, potatoes, dressing, vegetables and cranberries. The Washington Choral Society will perform their Christmas concert “Joy” on Saturday, December 5 at 7:30pm at the United Presbyterian Church. They will be performing with the guest choir “Sound of Washington”. Tickets are available at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The Crooked Creek Christian Camp is having a cookie workshop Saturday, December 5 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., you can gather in the kitchen to bake and learn new decorating techniques. Operation Home Front, a family support organization to deployed troops, has 700 Christmas stockings they would like to pack and ship to soldiers for the holidays. The stockings will be stuffed at the Trinity Methodist Church in Riverside on Saturday, December 5th, starting at 1:00 pm. The Southeast Iowa Singles group from the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield have a pizza eat out Saturday, November 21st at Torino Pizza and Steak House in Fairfield at 6 pm. The dinner will be followed with a public dance from 8-12pm at the Eagles in Fairfield.
A Coping with the Holidays Seminar is Saturday, November 21st at 2pm at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt Pleasant. United Methodist Minister Nick Longworth will speak at this free seminar.
