Flu Levels on the Rise in Iowa

Iowa had seen low levels of influenza since the beginning of the flu season, but now, public health officials are seeing rising numbers in the state. Chrystal Woller from Washington County Public Health says a few cases of the flu have been reported in Washington County, but it’s not an illness that is required to be reported, so there are likely more cases than reported.

Lawmakers Look at Legality of Police GPS Devices

Lawmakers are looking at a bill that would allow all police forces to use GPS devices to track someone’s car. The devices are currently used by specialty police forces, and are attached to a suspect’s car, then used to track the movements of the suspect.

Lawmakers Encourage Employee Ownership of Businesses

On Thursday, the Iowa House passed a bill that encourages more employee owned businesses. The bill would give current business owners up to $700,000 in tax breaks if they sold their business to their employees in the first year of the program.
