Thomann 27th in Final Individual Rankings

It’s been a great cross country season so far for Highland’s Madison Thomann.  She’s placed in the top five in most of her races this year, got herself all-conference honors and earned herself a trip to the state meet on Saturday, all as a sophomore.  Now you can add a ranking to that list.

Patterson Paces Golden Hawk Defense, Lands in Top Ten in RVC

Wolves Sweep Away Iowa Mennonite

In the rubber match for the season between the two schools it was Winfield-Mt. Union who came out on top on their home floor Tuesday against Iowa Mennonite School in a class 1A regional quarterfinal volleyball match. The Wolves were winners by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21. After the match, Winfield-Mt. Union head coach Dave Pieart talked about what led his team to the win.”I thought we were extremely consistent throughout the night. Even when we got frazzled we were still picking spots and communicating well on defense.”

In the victory, WMU was led by Jenna Buffington with 17 kills. Kayla Edwards added 32 assists and Jami Wilkerson led the Wolves defense with 21 digs. With the win, WMU is now 15-14 and advances to the regional semifinals against No. 10 New London Thursday. IMS ends their season at 18-15.

Huskies Rout Belle Plaine, Head to the Playoffs

The Highland football team went 2-7 last season, being outscored 366-132.  A year later, the Huskies have flipped that around, finishing 7-2 and qualifying for the Class A playoffs.

Horak Headed to State

Washington’s Evan Horak has had an exceptional cross country season.  Week in and week out, he continued to finish in the top ten, break personal and school records, and solidify himself as a top runner in the area.  That came full circle on Thursday when he qualified for state.
