Columbus’s Orr First State Golfer to State for Wildcats

No. 2 Highland Takes Care of Business at IMS

The Iowa Mennonite School softball team hosted a South Eastern Iowa Super Conference match up last night as they took on the No.2 ranked in Class 2A Highland Huskies. As you heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com it was all Huskies in this one as Highland would take the victory, 11-0.

The game was scoreless after the first two innings before Highland scored four runs in the third to make the score, 4-0. After no one scored for IMS in the fourth, Highland was at it again in the fifth, scoring five runs highlighted by Huskies senior Courtnee Hahn’s three-run out of the park home run deep over the center field fence to make the score 9-0.

The Huskies put the game away in the sixth inning scoring two more runs to finish the game.

Highland senior pitcher Katie Springer had eight strike outs in the game, pitching all six innings and recording her fourth win of the year. IMS pitcher freshman Hannah Harris struck out two batters in the game.

IMS falls to 0-3 and will head to Letts tonight to take on the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (2-3).

Highland moves to 4-1 and will host WACO on Monday.
