Highland Girls’ Win at Lone Tree; IMS Has Solid Showing

The Highland Huskies’ girls’ track team took first place at the Lone Tree Invitational on Monday, posting 153 points to top the host and second place Lady Lions.

Lone Tree Invitational Today

After a previous postponement, the weather should be great today for the Lone Tree Invitational which kicks off a busy week on the tracks for several area schools, many of which will be in Lone Tree tonight.  Lions coach Regan Stone has been preparing for several area opponents.

Boys’ and Girls’ Track Results

The Washington Demon girls track team finished first in Mediapolis yesterday with 105 points, edging out the hosts by six.  Columbus Community finished in third with 94 points while WACO finished seventh.

Conference Realignment Update

The state continues to look at a way to reshuffle the conferences in eastern Iowa, affecting the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and the Cedar Valley, who are set to lose North Cedar to a yet-to-be-named conference involving what would be the former Big East and the current, and expected to expand, Tri-Rivers Conference.

Washington Relays On For Today

After being postponed twice, the Washington Relays are set for today at 4:00.  The outdoor track meet held by Washington High School was washed out Thursday and Friday last week causing head coach Steve Roth to postpone the event until today.

Demon Girls Win In Columbus

Seven girls’ track and field teams traveled to Columbus Community Friday night to kick-off the outdoor season, and the Washington Demons did so in dominating fashion, winning the event by 77 points over the host Wildcats.

Washington Relays Postponed Till Monday

With the threat of rain remaining in the area for the rest of the day and with better weather on the horizon, the Washington Relays have been postponed until Monday at 4:00. After being postponed yesterday due to the soggy weather, the Washington Relays were scheduled to get underway today at 4:00.  Rain remains in the forecast throughout the day and into the evening. Things should clear off over the weekend however and no rain is expected on Monday with a high of 70 degress.

Demons and Wildcats Have Top-8 Finishers

The girls’ track and field state indoor championships were held yesterday at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls and two area participants finished the indoor season strong in their respective events with top-eight finishes.

Demons’ Steele Selected to IBCA Senior All-Star Team

Washington senior basketball player Colin Steele was selected to participate in the IBCA Games March 24th at Dallas-Center Grimes.  Steele, one of just 40 senior boys’ or girls’ players in Iowa to be selected, averaged 13.5 points-per-game for the 13-9 Demons this season.
