Football Helping Player Cope With the Loss of His Mother

Over the past six months, Washington senior Bryce Sinn has used football as a way to help him overcome his biggest personal loss. Fifty-three year old Patricia Sinn, Bryce’s mother, passed away on February 23rd after a battle with cancer.

Sinn told KCII Sports this week he’s grown up a lot in the past six months, and is trying to enjoy life and not take any day for granted. He says during struggling times, football helps take his mind off his mom. Sinn adds the loss has also helped him become aware of others struggling around him and that he’is doing his best to be kind to those people.

Sinn was named a captain of the Demon football team this week, joining Seth Townsen, Aaron Vittetoe, and Karlton Skubal on Washington’s leadership council. Sinn earned first team all-district honors as a junior, recording 61 total tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and made three sacks. He also caught nine passes for 114 yards.

Sinn and the No. 2 Washington Demons football team opened the season last night versus the Albia Blue Demons. The Demons won the game, 42-0. A full recap of Washington’s season opener can be heard on Monday’s KCII Sports Page.
