Open Cattle Show

Description: Washington County 4-H County Council will be sponsoring an IJBBA sanctioned open cattle show on Saturday, April 15 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This event is open to youth of all ages up to age 21. Members of the IJBBA will receive points. Check-in will be from 8:00-9:30 a.m. The show will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entry fee is $35.00. Pre-registration is $30.00 if registered by April 1st. Supreme Champion will receive $250.00 and Reserve Champion will receive $150.00 for both market and breeding animals. Description: 4-H’ers interested in the Dog Project are strongly encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, April 1, 10:30 a.m. at the Washington County Extension Office. Department superintendents will discuss deadlines, records, scoring, training suggestions and dog workout schedules. Parents are encourage to attend. No dogs are needed for this informational meeting. Women in Ag Conference

Description: The first Women in Agriculture Conference to be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds is March 25th. The conference is geared towards giving women of all ages the tools to cultivate, plant, and grow in their chosen agricultural field. Jolene Brown will be the keynote speaker for the conference. Brown is a farmer, author and professional speaker, from West Branch, The conference will start at 8:30 a.m. on March 25. Lunch will be provided. The conference will conclude around 3:00 p.m. Registration to attend the conference is $25 or $15 for students. You can register by calling the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811. The registration deadline is March 17.

Title: Toddlers in Nature
Description: Toddlers can discover the natural world safely with the Washington County Conservation Board “Little Dippers: Spring Colors” program on Saturday, March 18. This session will be held at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park beginning at 10:00 a.m. It\’s an hour-long program is geared toward children 3 years of age and under with an adult relative or friend. Activities will focus on the different colors we find during the colorful season of spring. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather. Description: Washington Community School District Kindergarten Round-Up registration will be Tuesday, April 11th and Wednesday April 12th. It is for any child turning 5 years old on or before September 15th this year. There will be a parent informational meeting during the round-up sessions. Parents must sign their child up for one of four sessions: Session 1 and 2 will be Tuesday April 11th at 4:00pm and 6:00pm and sessions 3 and 4 will be Wednesday, April 12th at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
