Community Blood Drive

Description: The Henry County Health Center will host a community blood drive from 11 am to 2 pm on Friday July 14. Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age or 16 with a parental permission form, and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. For questions contact the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

Iowa Ice Ages

Title: Iowa Ice Ages
Location: Marr Park
Description: Take a break from the heat this summer and travel back to a cooler time in Iowa. The Washington County Conservation Board’s program “Iowa Ice Ages” takes place Sunday July 2nd, at 1 p.m. at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park. During this family friendly program they will take close look at glaciers, the times when they ruled over the Northern Hemisphere, the effects they had on the land and life then, and even how the remnants of those past Ice Ages affect us and the land today. Description: All 4-H Garden project members are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, July 11 to learn how to prepare garden produce and flowers for the fair. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Extension Office. Members are encouraged to bring some produce samples to use an example, if they have them. Questions may be directed to the Extension Office at 319-653-4811.

Manure Applicator Programs

Title: Manure Applicator Programs
Location: Washington County Extension Office
Description: Washington County Extension will reshow both the Commercial and Confinement Manure Applicator programs on Friday, July 7th, for those that were unable to attend a workshop. These programs are shown free of charge on the first friday of each month in Washington. Applicators that need to schedule a reshow at any other time will be charged a $10 fee per person. Grilled Chicken Breast Dinner

Description: The Wellman Rotary Club is having a grilled chicken breast dinner Tuesday July 4th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wellman Parkside Activity Center. The dinner costs $5 for children 10 and under and $10 for adults. All proceeds go for Wellman beautification and new sidewalks north of the park.
