Description: Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Beginning Young Farmers meeting on March 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Washington County Extension Office.This meeting will evaluate options available for purchasing farmland as a beginning farmer. A light meal will be provided at 5:30 pm. The meeting and is open to all beginning farmers from Southeast Iowa. There is no charge for the event, but please RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 by noon on March 29th.

Shuttle to Riverside Casino

Description: Halcyon House sponsors a free monthly shuttle to and from the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. The shuttle will leave on Thursday, March 30th at 10:00am and will return at 3:30pm at the Applewood Bistro entrance. The trips are free and open to the public. Manure Applicator Program

Description: Washington County Extension will reshow both the Commercial and Confinement Manure Applicator Programs on Friday, April 7, for those that were unable to attend a workshop. These programs are shown free of charge on the first Friday of each month in Washington. Applicators that need to schedule a reshow at any other time will be charged a $10 fee per person. German Exhibit

Description: North Liberty Community Library invites community members to participate in the Waddle Walk, April 23 at 1 p.m. This 2K walk fundraiser with all profits to support the library\’s Read to the Bump program, which helps build baby\’s personal library before birth for expecting families. 4H Poultry Workshop

Description: 4-H and FFA members involved in the poultry project are invited to attend a free poultry workshop on Saturday, April 8, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Washington County Extension Office Topics will include basic feed & nutrition, basic health & care, how to prepare and care for chicks, and more. All participants will also build their own egg candler to take home and no cost. The poultry superintendents will be present to answer questions and discuss any changes for the 2017 county fair. Both beginning poultry and veteran poultry exhibitors are invited to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend. All age groups are encouraged to bring questions. Open Cattle Show

Description: Washington County 4-H County Council will be sponsoring an IJBBA sanctioned open cattle show on Saturday, April 15 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This event is open to youth of all ages up to age 21. Members of the IJBBA will receive points. Check-in will be from 8:00-9:30 a.m. The show will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entry fee is $35.00. Pre-registration is $30.00 if registered by April 1st. Supreme Champion will receive $250.00 and Reserve Champion will receive $150.00 for both market and breeding animals.
