Description: There will be a Women at Risk Jewelry Benefit at Faith Baptist Church Lower Level on Thursday, Dec. 3. Information about the organization, which helps women who are rescued from sexual trafficking and other abusive situations, will be given at 6:30 pm. and shopping for accessories will be from 7-8 p.m. All items on sale are made by women who have been rescued and are now beginning micro businesses in making jewelry, scarves, and other beautiful accessories. All proceeds go to the Women at Risk organization. The event is hosted by Faith Baptist Church, First Christian Church, Washington United Presbyterian Church and St. Mary\’s Catholic Church of Riverside. Description: The Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are teaming up to provide training for pork producers and others who need certification in the Pork Quality Assurance Plus© (PQA Plus©) program. One certification session has been set for Nov. 23rd in Washington County.Washington County administrative assistant Nancy Adrian said the session will be held at the Washington County Extension office, 2223 250th St. Washington, and will be taught by ISU Extension and Outreach swine program specialist Tom Miller. Description: The Iowa Department of Ag and Land Stewardship (IDALS) will offer pesticide testing on Friday, November 13 at the Washington County Extension office from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. All tests are available at this site and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tests are administered by the IDALS. IDALS offers testing monthly at the Washington County Extension on the second Friday of each month, April through December.
