Description: Everyone is invited to volunteer at the Wayland Community Garden across from WACO High School in the new housing development. Volunteers of all ages are welcome Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Fridays at 9 a.m. weather permitting. Help plant weed and harvest the vegetables and take the free produce you want back to your home to enjoy healthy and delicious meals. Canoe Trek Training Day

Title: Canoe Trek Training Day
Description: Louisa County Conservation is hosting River Raiders Canoe Trek, a three day two-night canoe trip down the Upper Iowa River. This trip is for youth entering 6-9th grade. A training day will be held on June 26 from 1-4:30 p.m. at Langwood Education Center. The trip will be held July 16 starting at 9 a.m. to July 18 returning around 5 p.m. Food, tents, canoes, and lifejackets are provided. Youth only have to bring their personal gear and sleeping bag. Description: The Iowa Utilities Board issued an order scheduling six public meetings regarding an application filed by Alliant Energy-Interstate Power and Light Company requesting approval of customer notices and Alliant’s planned filing to request an increase in its Iowa retail natural gas rates. A public meeting for Alliant Customers and the general public will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday June 21 in the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center Expo Hall in Fairfield.

Description: Washington County Extension will reshow both the Commercial and Confinement Manure Applicator Programs on Friday June 8 for those that were unable to attend a workshop previously. These programs are shown free of charge on this date, the commercial manure program will be shown at 8:30 a.m. and the confinement manure program will be shown at 1:30 p.m. at the extension office.
